Errors when drilling with metal twist drills
Errors when drilling with metal twist drills
Introduction: Many mistakes can occur when drilling, but they can be easily avoided in advance by first observing the following points: the drill bit must be in good working order, the drill can operate at the correct speed, and the workpiece must be securely and firmly clamped. If the result is still not as expected, consider the following points:
The hole is too small
You've selected the wrong drill bit, or the outer diameter is too small. This can happen if the drill bits are labeled incorrectly or if tolerances are not adhered to during production. Therefore, you should remeasure the drill bit. If you pre-drill a core hole for a thread-cutting tool , this can have a significant negative impact on the subsequent process.
The hole is too big
The same error as above could be present here. The drill bit has the wrong outer diameter or is incorrectly labeled. Other causes: The drill bit is running unevenly because it is crooked or not clamped properly. Or the chamfer is off-center. Or the workpiece is not clamped securely.
The surface of the hole is unclean
Then the drill may be blunt or the feed rate was too high
The drill has a short service life
The wrong cutting data is used and insufficient coolant is used.
The drill breaks off
The cutting speed is too high , the drill is blunt.
The drill has a short service life
The workpiece clamping is insufficient, incorrect cutting data
